Who Is Pam Ramsey?

From left to right: Sean, Danny, Kristin, Allison, Kim, Deborah, and ? Well, this is not an easy question - even for me! My educational background is in Criminal Justice. I studied at Radford University for both my Bachelor of Science degree (1985-1989) and my Master of Science degree (1993-1995). I thoroughly enjoyed being a graduate student and the papers I've listed here for your perusal were written in grad school. It's no secret I didn't like being an undergraduate but grad school is amazingly different. You get to argue with your professors! ;) I *liked* that part. No offense, Dr. Kaune, if you're reading this! So, anyway, that is my educational training in a nutshell.

So What Does Pam Do?

Over the years (counting from 1989 on) I have held many different jobs. I've been a temp (loved it!), a secretary, a word processor, a desktop publisher (loved it!), a deputy manager (loved it!), a systems analyst, and a web developer (love it!). Most of my permanent jobs have been within the defense contracting world - mainly Navy based. But for the past seven years, I've worked for a small company (Sytel, Inc.) as a systems analyst/web developer on a criminal justice agency contract. It's a very challenging job sometimes but all in all - I love it. I also have a small business creating web pages on a volunteer & pay basis.

What Would Pam Want To Do If She Could Have Her Dream Job?

Aaah, this is the hardest question. How to describe your dream job? The overarching philosophy of my dream job would be teamwork. I want to work with a group of intelligent high-tech professionals that don't fear sharing their knowledge with the team. People who will work together logically with no backstabbing. People who want a challenge not the status quo. People who look to the future and anticipate what the client will need. People who do the job for the job not just for the money. I want to work for a company that recognizes that kind of teamwork and encourages it to the point of demanding it. Also, a company that realizes your intellect and work-ethic is worth more than your wardrobe. A company that knows that you need the tools of the trade to do the job and provides you with them.

Sigh, enough ranting and raving I guess. I'm interested in hearing from people who think they work for the best company and have their dream job. I heard from one man who said he was the luckiest guy in the world to work for Lucent Technologies. So, let's hear from the rest of you! Do you feel lucky to work where you do? If so, send me e-mail and I'll note it here! webmaster@pamramsey.com
